International Comparison of Elite Sport Policies (SPLISS) - Descriptive Analysis of Brazilian Results

The competitiveness of nations on sports, that has been studied through comparative researches on Elite Sport policies, is a current issue on Sport Sciences in the international context. Since 2009, the Groups of Study and Research in Youth Sport and Training (GEPETIJ) and in Sport Management (GEPAE), have been working together with the SPLISS (Sports Policies Leading to International Sporting Success) research consortium.

This report contains the results of the research conducted with 10 Brazilian performance directors (from a total of 31 invited), 83 coaches (from a total of 110) and 449 athletes (from a total of 3000), who agreed to participate in the project.

The results are described according to each pillar studied. Performance directors’ questionnaire comprises all pillars. Athletes’ and Coaches’ questionnaires contain no questions relating to the pillars 1 and 3.

This report is a descriptive analysis of the overall results of all sports surveyed on the Brazilian reality only. We present comparisons among the responses of performance directors, coaches and athletes when the questions are common to them.
